And we’re back!
SO much has happened in the last month, and I think I made a wise choice in shuttin’ this train down for a bit. I hot-potaoed the idea for a while before deciding that I needed to free up some time to tackle some big life changes, you know like…getting married.
Holy WHAT. I didn’t see it coming either! A bit unconventional and sudden but, that’s just how it came together and my initial fears of “this is not how you’re supposed to…” dissipated immediately upon walking into city hall and seeing my parents, brothers, and dearest friend’s faces lit up with anticipation and joy. And any already-withering inhibitions dissolved the moment I said “I do” in my bargain-shopped white eyelet dress from Express, nude wedges borrowed from my loving roommate, clutching a beautiful bouquet of purple flowers from Delia. (“It’s the Pantone color of the year!” Delia thank you again for the beautiful, and relevant, flowers.) I guess some of the eyeroll-inducing clichés are true, and you really DO know when you find “the one”. Needless to say, it was nice to have some free time to celebrate, reflect, and regroup.
In case you’re curious about the details of our day…we got married in Manhattan and had a full day of hijinks; started at city hall for a ceremony that proved to be much more special and touching than we even imagined with the help of our friends and family, followed by a big lunch at Pio Pio in Hell’s Kitchen. (a long-time family favorite of the Valle’s, the bartender christened our voyage with 2 flaming “Cucaracha” shots.) After lunch we ducked into Lansdowne Road for tequila shots and made our way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a photo session. I am surprised at how spritely we look in our photos! We met up with friends again for a great big dinner at Traif in Williamsburg, which remains our favorite place to eat in Brooklyn. I am still daydreaming about the buttermilk-fried frog’s legs that they coyly served aside a crock of mac n’ cheese. We spent the rest of the evening sharing drinks with friends, and I couldn’t have asked for a better day. Talk about a low-stress wedding day! We intend on having Round 2 in September, for tradition’s sake but I must say it is a load off to plan a wedding as an already married couple.
SO that’s what I’ve been up to, and now I am back and super excited about the new layout! I hope it is easier for you guys to browse, and if you think anything can be improved by all means shoot me an e-mail.
